You Too Can Own Original Bits of Power of the Daleks!!!

Some of the late BBC designer Derek Dodd's original colour photos from Power of the Daleks recently went under the hammer at auction. The price estimate put the very rare (and largely unseen) stills way out of most fans price bracket and they had to make do with the artistically arranged lo-res photo of the collection on the auction house's website to get a basic feel of their awesome-ness.

But fear not! There are plans to make the stills available to everyone (at a reasonable price).

You TOO can own a genuine piece of Doctor Who history... just like the BIG fans do!

If you liked this post (or indeed, any of the 400 odd others I've done over the years), why not buy me a coffee at my Ko-fi profile. The link is here

The 156 Piece Classic Doctor Who Dinner Service

So glad I can talk about this now. I've spent the last six months working on the remastering of EVERY classic Dr WHO serial in prepartion for them being released as this incredible dinner service. Hours oe work and sleepless nights have been put into making this the ultimate Dr WHO dinner service that will satisfy every fan's catering needs for decades to come. You will not regret the investment.

As I say, so glad I can talk about this as I've been keeping it a secret all these months and have kept it from all my followers on the Twitter. It's been a tremendous pressure knowing something about the world of Dr WHO that nobody else knew and seeing all the crockery speculation but unable to comment. Now at last, it's out in the open I can freely speak about it without reprisals or discrimination.

I can cancel the Prozac prescriptions now as well...

The Steven Moffat Memorial Clock

Look. I'm sorry I haven't posted anything since well before Christmas... but I've been busy. Busy with real life stuff and nonsense. Yes, I've still been tweeting bits and bobs but not actually updating the blog.

Well, here I am and with a free few hours to bring things up to date.

First up is something to memorialise the life of  former Dr Who show-runner Steven Moffat. And, ironically for a writer who first coined the phrase 'timey-wimey', it's a clock.

Don't worry he's not dead. The folk who make these things will produce tat like this at the drop of a hat. So I'v done that as well...

The Official WOTAN War Machine Limited Edition Carriage Clock

Christmas is approaching as I've probably said a dozen or so times on the blog already. (Sorry about that but I do need to keep bread on the table.)

You're probably desperate to purchase a gift for the Dr WHO Whovian who has everything but cannot find anything that isn't already on a shelf gathering dust in that private upstairs spare bedroom of theirs.

Well, your desperation is at an end with this lovely War Machine Carriage Clock based on the amazing robot men from the 1966 Post Office Tower - as seen in TV's Dr WHO television programme broadcast on BBCtv.

Introducing the Old Mother Collectors's Music Box and Cigarette Lighter!

Occasionally, someone suggests an idea so amusing I have to drop everything I'm doing and power up the mac for a quick Photoshop session. This is one such idea. Sadly it meant that my living room carpet had only been half-shampooed by 10pm this Sunday evening.

Thanks guys.

Paul Lang posted the ad (for a Mother Theresa music box) on Twitter and Clayton Hickman suggested the Old Mother (from TV's Doctor Who and 100,000BC) angle.

Blame them.

Oh and thanks to @ShaunoHammer for the inspired strapline!

NEW!!! Royal Star Trek collectables!

Way back in the mists of the 1990s, Adam Richards, Owen Richards and myself produced a fanzine entitled FanGrok. It ran for six issues, contained many scurrilous but amusing articles and was banned in Birmingham.

One of the less controversial fake ads in it was one for a Princess Diana Star Trek Doll. The idea was to produce a series of similar ads over the course of several issues.

Well, it's 2016 and I've finally finished the gag...

The Official Tom Baker Orangutan Baby Doll...

In the past, I have made no secret of how disturbing I find those realistic baby dolls you see advertised in cheap TV mags and Sunday colour supplements.

Imagine my surprise when this week's TV Choice carried an ad for yet another realistic 'baby' doll - but this time in the form of an orangutan. Yes, that's right - an orangutan. Disturbingly realistic looking (at least in the photos) and wearing human baby clothes...

I had to do something about it... And fast!

Barbara Wright from TV's Dr Who... as an ancient Egyptian cat!

What's On TV (Issue dated 3-9 Sept 2016)
Just when you though it was safe to look at the ads in the latest TV listings magazine, you see another shocker.

This one is a cat ornament thing done up to look like Amanda Barrie in Carry on Cleo - but with none of the allure.

Poor pussy.

I'm sure I can produce something better to spend your hard-earned money on...

That satisfied customer... again!

The Collected Official Doctor Who Collectors's Items Collection

I'm very sorry.

I've not added to the blog over the past week or two. I've been very busy. Honest. (Timeslip stuff if you must ask... but that's another website altogether.)

In the meantime, I thought it would be okay (and a service to new followers) to collect together all of the 'Doctor Who Collectors Item' magazine ads I've done over the past year or two on one post.

I love these ads. The real ones, I mean. Be they for Elvis Presley handbags or Star Trek Cuckoo Clocks. Everyone knows they are TAT. That's TAT. In block capitals. Yet we (the royal 'we' of course) still buy them.

Here are all the ones I've done including a new one...

I hope you like them enough to send me your money. Now. (Easy payment plans available subject to status.)

Sydney Newman's Dr Who Cuckoo Clock...!!

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Regular visitors to this blog will know my fascination with "Official Doctor Who Collectors' Items". You know the stuff - plates, teddy bears, chess sets, table lamps etc...

Richard Bignell [@NothingLane] - who should be familiar to Doctor Who fans from his 'Now & Then' features on the BBC Doctor Who DVDs and from being one of DWm's original 'Time Team' tweeted a scan of a 1965 BBC memo from Sydney Newman. In it, Newman thanked the "Asst. to H.B.Tel.E" (?) for a list of merchandise based on his beloved Doctor Who. He was, however, disappointed to discover that a licenced cuckoo clock was not on the list... "Where are they?" he asked.

Well, Mr. Newman... Over fifty years late but here they are.

Or rather an artist's impression...

Doctor Who Collectors Table Lamps - now available!

The current issue of the UK TV listings magazine "What's On TV" has an ad on page 36 for a Star Wars table lamp.

The stem is made up of three light sabres and there's some delightfully old-fashioned artwork from the first film on the shade. You couldn't make it up...

So I did.

Presenting the Official Doctor Who Collectors Table Lamp Collection...
