We all know that Doctor Who's man of action during the seventies wasn't the Doctor. Battling Yeti, Cybermen, Autons, Axons and Dinosaurs on the streets of the home counties, only one man stood in the way of alien invasions. It was Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge Stewart and his optional hyphen.
Palitoy never had plans to add a special Brigadier figure to their very popular Action Man range and never approached the BBC with the idea. They never mocked up a sample to see how one would look or got the actor Nicholas Courtney to sign off on the figure's likeness.
None of this was ever done. So these images don't actually exist.

Following on from my follow on in the previous post, here's some more attempts to scrape the barrel of creativity with the 'Doctor-Who-Movie-Posters' theme.
Not sure I'll do any more for the time being as the results are getting pretty desperate.
(There's also a bonus cover from a VERY rare Channel Five VHS release in the late 80s for Colony In Space. TV's Michael Dennis reminded me about it. Thanks Mike! Not alot of people have heard of this curiosity piece... and for good reasons!)
One of the first silly merchandise mash-ups I did was a selection of paperback book covers for a UNIT spin-off series based on the design of the UK Man from UNCLE paperbacks that once littered the shelves of second hand bookshops in my youth. You can see them here
I had always intended to go back to them and create fuller covers with proper blurb, better photos and more accurate fonts. I finally got the urge a few days ago.
However, in searching the internet for source material, I came across the US covers for the original UNCLE novels which, arguably were more on-brand than their UK counterparts. They looked more hip as well..
So I diverted my original intention into creating new covers based on these for Doctor Who's seventh season. I hope you find them at least vaguely amusing.

Prompted by the recent articles in TV's Doctor Who Magazine which chronicle the history of the series on VHS, I've returned to some old favourites and done some 'scans' of the full covers in all of their BBC Video branding glory...
