Totally Line of Duty Adventures

Well, the fifth series of Line of Duty is finally over and now's the time to release start releasing that tidal wave of merchandise in time for Christmas.

Let's start with this...

Something for all the younger viewers eager for puzzles and morse code breaking challenges.

If you liked this post (or indeed, any of the 400 odd others I've done over the years), why not buy me a coffee at my Ko-fi profile. The link is here.

TV Shows What Weren't In TV Action Comic...

When the early 70s comic weekly Countdown dropped its science fiction remit and became TV Action, it broadened its comic strips to include other TV show genres.

In particular, shows that the young me (at the time) didn't bother about like Hawaii Five-0, Cannon and Alias Smith & Jones. There were plenty of other shows that DID interest me but alas they failed to materialise in the comic's pages.

Until now... with apologies to purists who may argue about broadcast dates and the years the comic was originally published.

(Admittedly, this was all an excuse to do a cover for The Invaders following my rediscovery of it on The Horror Channel...)

Gay Comic - from TV's UFO

Back in the 60s TV Century 21 comic begat a sister comic for girls entitled 'Lady Penelope'. It had a similar format to its brother - a mix of TV sourced comic strips and features but with a more feminine bent.

Flash forward to 1970 and the launch of Countdown which took Gerry Anderson's UFO as its base for a comic similar in content to TV21. There was no sister comic for girls this time round though...

or was there?

Crown Court Lives Again!!!

Crown Court was an ITV drama based around fictional legal cases in the equally fictional town of Fulchester. It ran from 1972 until 1984 and was a fixture of ITV's fledgling daytime schedule when they finally decided that viewers were actually at home during the day.

Each story - comprising of three half hour episodes - took the viewer through the legal proceedings of each case. At the climax of each case, a jury comprised of 11 members of the public and someone with an Equity card decided the verdict based on what they had seen. The verdicts were unscripted. Despite its age, it is still compelling viewing.

For more information, check out Ivan Kirby's merticulous case-by-case blog here or go out and buy some of the DVDs from Network here. There are already eight volumes available.

The sudden and inexplicable rise in popularity of the 70s afternoon drama Crown Court has taken every body by surprise. But not the crafty merchandisers here at the House of Andydrewz

I'd have thought folk would've got bored of these by now. Apparently not if my Twitter feed is anything to go by.

So here's a few more...

They ain't stopping just yet.

Whovians in Love - volume five

And in quick succession, here are six more issues of Whovians in Love from the archives.

Put the productivity down to therapy and a long Bank Holiday weekend worrying (needlessly?) about Whooverville 8 which is - at the time of writing - less than a week away.

I hope to meet some of this blog's followers at the event so do say hello. I'm the bemused looking middle-aged bloke who may or may not have a beard. I haven't decided yet...

All the best.

That was the last in the present series of Whovians in Love. The series will return in the autumn...

Whovians in Love - volume four

Here's some more from the Whovians In Love archive.

I'm pleased that folk are finding them amusing though I've a feeling the joke may be running its course.

Some more may follow...

Whovians in Love - volume two

My selections from the vintage DC romance comic Whovians in Love seemed to be popular last time round, so I've done some more...

Someone on Twitter said that I should put together a book of these.

Not sure how DC's legal department would react to that action...

BBC's Legends of Yesterday - part three

I've done three more covers for this promising new comic book series that people seem to like.

Sadly, I can't be arsed to do the insides...
