Columbo in Space Again!!

Yes. I've done Columbo in Space before. An off-the-wall piece with pics depicting the rarely seen crossover episode that the shabby but brilliant detective had with Space 1999 based on a Japanese graphic novel thing I couldn't translate.

But.

The recent space rocket publicity launch by Elon Musk (I'm sure that's a 70s eau de toilette brand) made me return to the subject in an effort to get a handful of titters.

Money for old rope... or something more sinister? You decide.

Columbo: 1999

The Plaid Stallions blog recently posted an image of a rather odd Japanese tie-in book.

It seemed - as none of their writers spoke Japanese - to be a single publication featuring original fiction based on both Columbo and Space: 1999. You can read the article about it together with some clearer pics of it by clicking here

It should be pointed out that there isn't any discernible crossover of the two universes but it didn't stop me imagining one...

(Apologies for the picture of Olive from On The Buses in a filthy bikini. It's merely provided for historical context.)

Bank Holiday television isn't what it used to be...

Given it's a bank holiday and given that the weather is usually shit, you'd expect something a bit more special on telly.

But these days, there's often very little if anything.

The BBC still has its standard fare of Homes Under the Hammer and Bargain Hunt episodes that might as well be repeats for all the originality each 'new' edition contains.

ITV meanwhile has replaced This Morning with episodes of Murder She Wrote and Columbo in an effort to extend their 'classic' weekend scheduling.

As for the other Freeview channels....

Whatever happened to Disney Time, Billy Smart's Circus and Holiday Star Trek???

Rant over...

Professional Detectives Now Assigned to Lucy Beale Murder Case...

Lt. Columbo has just one more thing to ask Ian Beale
Given that the police are making such a fudge up of investigating the murder of Lucy Beale in Walford, I've called in a few favours and employed some professionals to look into it. They are all pretty good and usually get their man (or woman) within an hour or so...

NOT twelve bloody months!!!

Suave Simon Templar will apply his charm to the Walford ladies

Artificial Simon Templar will stake out Arthur's bench

Jim Rockford will ask for directions and get punched by Phil Mitchell
Frank Cannon will check out the cafe

Great Unreleased "Doctor Who" Merchandise of the 20th Century - part two

COLUMBO DISCOVERS DINOSAURS

Published by Target Books (US) - 1979 - price unknown

With the success of their 'Doctor Who Discovers' educational books which saw the Doctor - played by Tom Baker - delve into such child-friendly topics as dinosaurs, space travel and early man, Target decided to launch the series in the United States. However, their US arm pointed out that 'Doctor Who' wasn't that well known across the pond and wouldn't be for another thirty or so years. So they suggested re-branding the books with a more well-known American TV character. It didn't really work that well but my wife adored them...
