The Late Chocolate Egg post

It's been a couple of years since I did some faux chocolate eggs. Last year, it was lockdown-time and I had other things on my mind so I dug out the old favourites like the Giant Maggot egg and the Alpha Centauri egg. I nearly did the same this year but thought better of it. 

But what to make them. Something totally different from Doctor Who. Sapphire & Steel is always popular so I did a World in Action one. THEN followed it with Sapphire & Steel...

The other two came naturally. Particularly pleased with The Tomorrow People ones. Which would use choose? Blue or Green?

Indeed, some eBay entrepreneur - believing it to be a real ad - turned it into a fridge magnet. (He was told of his error!).

The Original Dalek Death Ray Ice Lolly!

When Wall's launched the Dalek Death Ray ice lolly in 1975, their manufacturing department took the name a little too literally resulting in it being hastily withdrawn and replaced by the now familiar 'mint and chocolate flavour' ice cream. 



















In the absence of an effective death ray, I give you the official Sapphire and Steel ice lolly from Lyons Maid....

09.04.2017 - IMPORTANT UPDATE: The above Sapphire and Steel ice lolly is (like all of the TV merchandise on this blog) a fake created by me. It's silly isn't it? Even in the 1970s, who'd have produced an ice lolly with what is effectively a stainless steel knife at its centre. And what kind of company would use "I don't trust it!" as a by-line on its advertising. No. It's a completely made up piece of merchandise. But it hasn't stopped folk from being fooled by it over the years. When I originally posted it, some enterprising ebayer decided they'd produce fridge magnets using the image believing it to be a genuine ad. Comments on Twitter have also come from people who genuinely think they remember it. I will say it again. The Sapphire and Steel does not exist. It is a figment of my and hopefully, your imagination. Goodnight. x

EastEnders 'Lucy Beale Murder' Plot Takes Unexpected Turn...

There's a really spooky trailer for the 30th anniversary week of BBCTV's EastEnders currently doing the rounds in which all the main suspects of Lucy Beale's murder are seen experiencing supernatural phenomena on an eerily-lit Albert Square set. 

Strange hand prints on the window on Ian's chip shop... The bell ringing all by itself in the Queen Vic... Swings moving all by themselves in the kids' playground... 

All of this witnessed by the ghostly aspect of the young victim - gazing judgementally from the roof of the pub - at the strangely silent cast below - as they approach Arthur Fowler's memorial bench! 

All in all, I'd be VERY disappointed if this DIDN'T happen over the next few episodes....

Sapphire & Steel - Their most terrifying adventure yet...

Sapphire & Steel - the popular and scary 1970s ITV drama series about two mysterious investigators of temporal anomalies - only ran for a mere six adventures. The final story saw them trapped forever in limbo and viewers were left wondering whatever became of them.

Not a lot of people realise that ATV/ITC actually made a seventh adventure but it was deemed too terrifying for broadcast.
