New Topical Eighth Doctor Adventures from BBCtv Books!

After TV's @OldRoberts953 observed on Twitter that 'The Shadow Cabinet' sounded like a Justin Richards Eight Doctor Adventure from the 90s, I thought what the heck... let's be topical! 

Oh no, not more Armada Doctor Who book covers...!

I've been sorting out the files on my mac of late. It needed to be done. Lots of mis-named folders and lost designs have now been recovered and re-filed. 

Whilst doing this, I started to fix some of my older work to ensure I had the best possible copies. I've gone back and redone a few as well - making some of the Target cover designs into full cover proofs with fronts AND backs. I'll post them at a later date though followerers of my Twitter feed will have seen them as my regularly nightly #DoctorWho Book at Bedtime. 

I've also taken a few of the stories and asked the question... "What if the Armada paperback release of 'Dr Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks' by David Whitaker had had the same success of the Target reprint in 1973?  

Would David Whitaker have found himself in the same position as Terrance Dicks and headed off on a new career as principal writer of the 'new' novelisation range from Armada Books? 

I've done some covers anyhow using the original artwork from the retro Target books I did last year. I make no apology for not giving the novels any titles. After all, the original is just called 'Dr Who' - the rest of its given title (the 'in an exciting adventure...' bit) is, to be perfectly honestly just a bit of cover blurb.

Space: 1999 mini-albums - 21 Minutes of Moon Madness!

I haven't done any mini-albums for a while but I was reminded of the final four that the failing company (which had been sold off to K-Tel) released in the mid-seventies. 

They were based on the popular Space: 1999 and featured specially recorded performances by the three main stars - Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and the other one. 

Sadly the entire range was swiftly withdrawn from sale shortly after their release following complaints from parents about the John Koenig one. Can't think why... 

They occasionally turn up in charity shops but not as records.

New Merchandise for Older Doctor Who Fans

With Doctor Who fans growing older by the day, the BBC has licenced a number of new products available for the older person. 

The Tingha & Tucker National Party

Tingha and Tucker - the fondly remembered ATV kids series from the 60s is shortly to be available on DVD from the lovely folk at Network - even though only one complete episode exists in the archives.

I have to admit that I was a fresh faced young member of the Tingha and Tucker club and Auntie Jean sent me a membership card, a boomarang and a shiny badge after my mum sent her a shilling for stamps.

Murder She Wrote - the crossover episodes

There was that time that Thomas Magnum - star of TV's Magnum PI - met Jessica Fletcher - star of TV's Murder She Wrote. 

It was a crossover caper. Part one aired as a segment of Magnum PI whilst the story concluded in a segment of Murder She Wrote. 

Thanks to a disreputable source of mine, I've got hold of the TV Guide ads for some other lesser known crossovers from everyone's favourite elderly female detective (after Miss Marple). 

She got about a bit, didn't she?
